The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of East West College of Pharmacy successfully organized the Poshan Pakhwada Programme on 23rd April 2026. As a part of the programme, a brainstorming interaction session was conducted to emphasize the importance of education among children from migrant working parent backgrounds. The session aimed to create awareness about the vital role of education in shaping the future of children and enhancing their overall development and well-being.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Purushotham, Campus Director, EWGI, Dr. Purnima Ashok, Dean (R&D), EWGI & Dr. Md. Naseeruddin Inamdar, Principal, EWCP. The dignitaries addressed and guided the NSS volunteers, about the significance of education and community support in nurturing the future of children from migrant families.

During the programme, NSS volunteers actively interacted with the children and discussed the challenges they face in continuing their education due to the nature of their parents’ occupations and living conditions. The volunteers motivated the children to attend school regularly and emphasized the importance of acquiring basic reading and writing skills for their personal development and long-term success.

As part of the initiative to support their educational needs, NSS volunteers distributed essential learning materials to the children. Each child received a set of alphabet practice books (in Hindi, English, and Kannada), a slate with slate pencils, a writing notebook, pencil, pencil sharpener, eraser, and a ball. This activity was intended to encourage interest in education and promote learning through the provision of supportive educational resources.

The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from both, the children and NSS volunteers. The activity effectively raised awareness about the importance of education and reaffirmed the commitment of the NSS Unit to support children from migrant working families in their educational journey.
