East West College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru, organized a two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme on “Python in Pharmacy – The Future of Smart Healthcare” on 8th and 9th September 2026 at the Seminar Hall of the College. The programme was organized exclusively for faculty members with the objective of introducing them to the applications of Python programming in pharmaceutical education, research, data analysis, and emerging healthcare technologies.
The programme was piloted by Dr. Shylaja S. L., Principal, East West Polytechnic, Bengaluru, who served as the resource person. The sessions highlighted Python as a simple, readable, open-source programming language with extensive scientific and medical libraries. The programme provided faculty members with an overview of the diverse applications of Python in pharmacy, including:
- Drug Discovery and Development
- Pharmaceutical Data Analysis
- Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
- Pharmacovigilance
- Hospital and Community Pharmacy
- Bioinformatics
The resource person also introduced participants to important Python libraries relevant to pharmaceutical applications, including NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, SciPy, Scikit-learn, RDKit, and BioPython, and explained their applications in numerical computation, data management, visualization, scientific computing, machine learning, cheminformatics, and bioinformatics. The hands-on and application-oriented approach enabled faculty members to gain a better understanding of how Python can support data-driven decision-making and modernize academic and research practices in pharmacy.
The ToT programme provided an excellent platform for faculty members to enhance their digital and computational competencies and encouraged them to explore the integration of emerging technologies into pharmacy education and research.
The two-day programme concluded successfully, providing faculty members with valuable exposure to Python-based tools and computational approaches relevant to the future of pharmacy and smart healthcare. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Purnima Ashok, Dean (R&D), EWGI. The initiative reflects East West College of Pharmacy’s commitment to continuous faculty development, technology-enabled education, innovation, and research excellence.
